The Maroons for Veterans club at Dowling is trying to do good for war veterans in a new and fun way. They will be putting on a fun run around the Dowling campus, and people will run or walk  in teams.

The club is lead by students Jack Fink and Matthew Berns and was started towards the beginning of the 2015-16 school year.

“I really wanted to give the Dowling community a way to support veterans, not only in our community but also in the Des Moines area,” Fink said. “The goal is to increase awareness of veterans needs, and to help them in any way possible.”

The hope for the race is to raise as much money as possible for charities of the club’s choice that benefit veterans. The race will take place on April 23  and will entail running a loop of Dowling with other people. To sign up for the event please go to (website), and the fee will be $25.

The club is always welcoming new members, and appreciates the support of Dowling community. The group is trying to raise money to help benefit veterans in all kinds of different situations, every little bit and donation helps.
