The Fall Project is Here!

Jenna Bindel, Staff

This year’s fall project is a bit different than the rest. This year, rather than one long day, the fall project is spread out into one-hour-a-day segments over time. This year, Dowling Students are making ceramic bowls for a soup supper held in the DCHS cafeteria on Oct. 9, which is easier then it sounds.

I was surprised that the actual making of the bowls was so easy. With a little patience and some trial and error, even I was able to make a bowl. The best part was that they need bowls of all shapes and sizes, so even though my bowl turned out a little stumpy, they will be able to give it away at the soup supper.

Additionally, if you prefer painting to the actual making of the bowls you can paint the bowls students have previously made.

Bowl making sessions are 3 to 4 p.m. in the ceramics room on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays after school.

You get one service hour for each session you attend, and you don’t have to go to every session. If you are curious, I encourage you to try it out. It really is not difficult and if you don’t enjoy it you don’t have to return, but at least you got a service hour. So come try it out! 🙂
