I Wanted “Something Just Like This”

I fell in love with The Chainsmokers the moment I heard one of their first hits “Roses” which was released in the summer of 2015. Their fun, upbeat style captured my heart immediately and it was one of those songs that just made me want to roll all my windows down and sing at the top of my lungs. Since then, The Chainsmokers have continued to release songs that I become obsessed with the minute I hear them for the first time.

Their newest release “Something Just Like This,” came out February 22nd and let me just say, this duo has done it again. I. Am. In. Love. This song features Coldplay’s Chris Martin, which is another huge addition to this song for me. “Something Just Like This” tells the story of someone who is looking for a simple love, and has found it. Lyrics like “I’m not looking for somebody with some superhuman gifts” and “just something I can turn to, somebody I can miss, I want something just like this,” depict the story the song is displaying, perfectly. This sweet song is wrapped up in a fun, dance EDM style. The only complaint that I would have about this song is that it tends to get a bit repetitive, but that is a part of their style I have accepted. I give this song a 4.5 out of 5 stars.

If you’re looking for a feel-good song to add to your playlist, check out “Something Just Like This.” This song will be featured on their new debut album Memories: Do Not Open, which is expected to be released on April 7. The Chainsmokers will also begin their first tour with Kiiara and Emily Warren on April 3. They will be in Des Moines at Wells Fargo Arena on April 30 and tickets are on sale now.
