Dimensions, the Dowling Catholic show choir, performed their preview show Sunday, January 14, in the auditorium. It was a twenty minute competition set, and their theme for this year is magic circus.

“[The preview show] is just a lot of fun… it’s a great way to start your week, it’s very high energy, a good way to spend your Sunday afternoon,” said Mary Bartemes, assistant choral director.

The preview show was the first time that the choir had performed in front of a live audience. They have been practicing their show since the beginning of September.

“We’re just excited to show what we’ve been working on,” said Bartemes.

Dimensions performs onstage at their preview show in the Dowling auditorium.

Dimensions isn’t just a show choir, it also includes eight backstage crew members and thirteen jazz combo members.

“My favorite part about Dimensions is getting to sing and dance with people that I love, and just being able to share that passion with them. It’s a lot of fun,” said Peyton Riewer (10), a second-year show choir member.

The preview show kicks off the show choir competition season, which ends in March.

“If you really liked the preview show, you can also come to our other competitions to see the show choir in action,” said Bartemes.

The choir also performed their set this Saturday in Johnston. The show included flips, tricks, and plenty of magic. They also won an award for best crew.

“I’m really proud of our crew this year,” said Riewer.

You can catch the choir next Saturday, Feb. 3, at their Bettendorf competition.
