2020 was a bad year for everyone. We had no sports, no activities, all due to a global pandemic. Because of that, a lot of movies releases were pushed back. Since this is just the beginning of has potential to be fantastic year, here are 5 movies to look forward to in 2021.

1. Dune

“Dune” is a sci-fi thriller directed by Denis Villeneuve and has an all-star cast lead by Timothée Chalamet. Set to release back in December 2020, this movie tells an epic story about a distant planet called Arrakis, the many resources it holds, and the fight for its resources. Coming off some fantastic movies recent movies including “Blade Runner 2049,” “Sicario,” and “Prisoners,” “Dune” is looking to make a huge scene when it gets released in late 2021.

2. Judas the Black Messiah

This movie was written and directed by Shaka King and tells the story of the Black Panther groups from the mid-1900s and the FBI’s attempt to shut them down. This movie has two of the hottest actors right now, Daniel Kaluuya and LaKieth Stanfield. Get ready for “Judas the Black Messiah,” set for a February release in theaters. 

3. Malcolm and Marie

For all the romantic movie fans out there, “Malcolm and Marie” might be a match for you. Directed by Sam Levinson, this romantic drama tells a story of an artsy film producer and his girlfriend as they analyze their relationship and all that comes with it after a night out. Starring only two actors, Denzel Washington Jr. and Zendaya, this black and white drama is anticipated to feature incredible performances, along with great dialogue and cinematography. “Malcolm and Marie” comes to Netflix in February. 

4. Raya and the Last Dragon

The latest Disney animated adventure is the first of the company’s to be set in Southeast Asia. “Raya and the Last Dragon” tells the story of a lone female warrior and her quest to keep the last dragon, called Druun, alive from evil monsters and her efforts to restore peace between Dragons and Humans once again. “Raya and the Last Dragon” is out on March 5th in theaters and on Disney+. 

5. The Green Knight

This Medieval adventure tells the familiar story about the nephew of King Arthur and his quest to bring honor and respect to his name by taking down the mysterious Green Knight. Produced by A24, notorious for some of the most beautiful and heart-pounding films, this tale of honor, respect, and bravery is anticipated to be a fantastic film. “The Green Knight” comes out in late July in theaters.
