“I got to dive deep into who I am as a person and really get to know myself”

This account given by senior, Julia Timmins, is only one of many students who praises the retreats at Dowling as being an amazing opportunity. The retreats serve as a time where students can come together to take a break from the real world and dig deeper into finding out who they are. The four retreats offered at Dowling are: Metanoia, Quest, Kairos, and Suscipe.

Metanoia:

A retreat for freshmen that is centered around changing

your heart. During the retreat students are encouraged to

get to know their classmates better and to grow in their faith.

Quest:

This retreat is for sophomores and focuses on two main

questions, “Who am I?” and “Do I let Jesus form who I am?”.

During this retreat you will do a lot of self reflection about

 yourself and your faith.

Kairos:

For juniors, a time where students can reflect on their

own hearts. While on the retreat students strengthen their

values to become Christian leaders.

Suscipe:

This retreat isn’t offered through Dowling but Dowling

seniors are highly encouraged to attend. On this retreat,

seniors are able to take a break from the hectic last semester

of school and to work on how they can live out their

 faith beyond high school.

Why should I go an a retreat?

Senior, Cesar Duran-Oropeza, says, “I got more used to talking to others about my faith.” Retreats are a special opportunity for students to be able to grow more comfortable in their faith. You can also use this experience to become closer to your classmates. Senior, Tessa Holtorf, says, “You can find a group of people that will help you grow in your faith.” This is a great chance for students to form a connection with their peers.

When asked what they would say to someone unsure about going on a retreat, Duran-Oropeza says, “When you’re actually there, you get to actually learn about yourself, just go for it.”
