Del Lark, better known as Lark, has been at Dowling Catholic for 50 Years. He is head athletic trainer who works alongside Sarah Michaud. He has helped thousands of student athletes over his countless years of service to Dowling Catholic. But back in the late 1970s he was a Business Education and Social Studies teacher here, while being the head athletic trainer.

Lark has made a tremendous impact on athletes, his student trainers, and Sarah. She has loved getting to know Lark and observing his interactions with the students. Lark’s variety of topics he chooses to educate people on is endless, from prevention to injury to history. Senior, Sophia Ingamells, says, “I love working with Lark because he has lived so much life, he has a story to tell for just about everything.” For her, he is funny, but strict when it comes to training duties and it pushes her to be better.

Lark’s role as an athletic trainer helped him fulfill his calling from the Holy Spirit to serve athletes through their recoveries. “My greatest love was to see an unhappy, injured athlete return safely to participation.” For Sarah, serving as an athletic trainer has been highly rewarding and she is greatly appreciative of this opportunity. She is ready to take over next year saying, “it will bring both new challenges and excitement.” Lark is going to miss the energy that teenagers have, but he won’t miss everyone talking at the same time in the training room.

Lark wants to thank all the student trainers that were so vital in the care of all our athletes.
